The Launch of Primers Vol. Four in Birmingham

  • Margaret Street, Birmingham, Birmingham, B3 3, United Kingdom (map)

Join us for the launch of Primers Volume Four

The fourth in a series of anthologies produced as part of the annual Primers scheme, run in partnership by The Poetry School and Nine Arches Press, featuring three new and emerging voices.

Edited and chosen by Kim Moore with Jane Commane

Lewis Buxton was born in London in 1993. He is a poet, performer & arts producer. His poems have appeared in Ambit, Ink, Sweat & Tears and Oxford Poetry as well as coming third in the Magma Poetry Prize. He lives in Norwich.

Amelia Loulli lives in Cumbria with her three children and an undisclosed, but significantly large, number of books. Her poetry has been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize in 2016 and 2017, and last year she was shortlisted for Primers Volume Three.

Victoria Richards is a journalist and writer. In 2017/18 she was shortlisted in the Bath Novel Award and the Lucy Cavendish College Fiction Prize, was highly commended for poetry in the Bridport Prize and came third in The London Magazine Short Story Competition. She was also longlisted in the National Poetry Competition.

The Primers scheme provides an important platform for emerging poets who are seeking to develop their writing and build towards a full collection of poems. With the involvement of a different guest poet each year as mentor and one of the selecting editors, Primers nurtures and supports new talent that may otherwise not find an outlet. It also aims to provide an important opportunity for poets to develop their skills, work on their poetry practice, receive mentoring and editing and find audiences for their work.

This event is hosted in partnership with Writing West Midalnds and Birmingham City University (Institute of Creative and Critical Writing)
