Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal Issue 1 launch : Words @ the Woodman

Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal is proud to present its inaugural issue. Celebrated with line up of poets published in the Autumn - Issue 1 of Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal performing at the September edition of Words @ the Woodman.

Alison Brackenbury: Alison has won an Eric Gregory Award and a Cholmondeley Award for her poetry, and has frequently been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4. Gallop, her Selected Poems, was published in 2019 by Carcanet.

Ian Dudley: Ian was born in Dudley. His poems have been published in journals including in Oxford Poetry, The Interpreter’s House, and The North. He has won the Oxonian Review (2015), Aesthetica (2017) and Manchester Cathedral (2018) poetry competitions.

Gregory Leadbetter: Greg is author of The Fetch (Nine Arches Press, 2016). His book Coleridge and the Daemonic Imagination (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011) won the University English Book Prize 2012. He is reader in literature and creative writing at Birmingham City University.

Faustine Ladeiro-Levent: Faustine is a French-Portuguese writer based in Birmingham. She is currently a mentee of Nine Arches Press’ DYNAMO scheme.

Lee Mackenzie: Lee's poems have been published in journals including New European, Pulp Poets Press, and Bonnie’s Crew. He is writer-in-residence at the Josephine Butler College, Durham University and one half of the art collective ‘is broken’.

Serena Trowbridge: Serena lives in Worcestershire and is a lecturer of English literature at Birmingham City University. She is author of My Ladys Soul: The Poetry of Elizabeth Siddall (Victorian Secrets, 2018).

Michelle Penn: Michelle is a dual US/UK national based in London. Her debut pamphlet, Self-portrait as a diviner, failing, won the 2018 Paper Swans Prize. Her work has appeared in Shearsman, Magma, Butcher’s Dog, and other journals.
